Officers were called to the Holmes Run Dog Park at around 6 p.m. late on Tuesday afternoon, when a woman reported that she was grabbed from behind and had to fight off her attacker, who proceeded to flee the area before police arrived.

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, officials said that detectives were pounding the pavement, re-canvassing the area and speaking with business and warehouse owners along Wheeler Avenue and South Gordon Street, who may have information regarding the suspect.

According to the Alexandria Police Department on Tuesday, the suspect was initially described as a White man with brown hair, wearing a blue sweatshirt and camouflage shorts, attempted to pull the woman into a wooded area, though she was able to escape.

Following the attempted abduction, police ramped up patrols in the area and are asking anyone to contact Det. Clinch by calling (703) 746-4444.

There has also been an online portal created, where tipsters can provide audio, photos, or video in the area. It can be accessed through a QR code set up by the department.

The incident remains under investigation. More information is expected to be released.
